A few nights ago we decided to host a cocktail party for a few close friends. We gave ourselves two challenges, 1) to decorate only using items we already had and 2) to buy locally! I think we succeeded our mission, here is how!
Sarah, having previously just moved back from San Francisco, introduced me to Cowgirl Creamery. The founders are two adorable women who love good food and have made it their mission to support local agriculture. So of course, we have to bring in some cheese from Cowgirl. We choose Dante, a cheese that comes from a Wisconsin Sheep Dairy Coop. It was a big hit.We went with a Chicago based butcher called Publican. They use small local organic farms and use all parts of the animal so nothing gets wasted. Being a vegetarian, I did not sample the meat but everyone else seemed to enjoy it☺Chalkboard as a serving platter. We made a trip to Trader Joes and picked up a few bottles of Bonterra, an organic winery that lets chickens and sheep roam around their grapes☺. Bonterra has producing organic wine since 1987, so impressive! We displayed the wine in decanters, which we thought would add a nice ‘classy’ touch to the table. It was one of our friends birthday so we made a few festive cupcakes to celebrate!
Mismatched wine glasses. We used an old book and some birch pieces to give this display some height.Table is all set! We just made a centerpiece of old candle sticks and old wine bottles, super easy.
The night was a success and took almost no time to put together! Thanks to all our friends for coming out and joining in the fun! And a very special thanks to RYAN MOORE, our ever so talented photographer, for shooting our party for us!
